The Russian cities of Novosibirsk and Omsk were originally scheduled to host the tournament, but the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) deprived them of this right due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. According to the AP, the championship will take place on December 26, 2022 – January 5, 2023. Halifax has already organized the World Cup once (in 2003), for Moncton it will be a premiere. Earlier (August 9-20), the championship will be re-launched in Canada, which was canceled at the end of December after the coronavirus began to spread among the teams and referees. His venue will be Edmonton.
