Benjamin Stora: “The massacres of May 8, 1945 in Algeria are a strong ideological marker”

If May 8, 1945 marks the end of the Second World War in Europe, this date has a completely different meaning in Algeria, particularly in the cities of Sétif, Guelma and Kherrata where several thousand Algerians lost their lives, victims of the French repression.
