Italy split between hail and sun: what awaits us next week

Time is bound to change once more. The first days of next week let us know iLMeteo.it will actually see an Italy literally split in two from a meteorological point of view, right in the highlight of the summer. The cause is to be found in the contrast between a cyclonic vortex descending from Northern Europe, which will cause severe storms and hailstorms, and the African anticyclonic promontory, a real oven, ready to heat up some regions with very high temperatures. While over the weekend on the Mediterranean basin a vast high pressure field of African origin will strengthen, from Northern Europe a cyclonic vortex, driven and fed by fresh Atlantic currents, will rapidly move towards Italy. concentrates in particular at the beginning of next week, the last of the month of July: between Monday 26 and Wednesday 28, a decidedly unstable phase will appear, especially for our northern regions. Be careful because due to the thermal contrasts, let’s not forget that we will be inside another hot and humid bubble of Saharan origin, the storms could be particularly violent.According to current data, the areas most at risk would be, in addition to the arc alpine, even the plains of Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia, areas where we do not exclude the possibility of extreme weather events such as storms, hailstorms and strong gusts of wind. Together with the storms we will have, as is normal, a drop in temperatures, at least temporary refreshment, but Italy will be split in two. A completely different speech, in fact, for the rest of the country, which will still be able to enjoy the protection of the African anticyclone: ​​there will therefore be substantial atmospheric stability in the rest of the Center and in the South and, above all, still very hot, with temperatures widely above 36 ° C. To underline the data concerning Puglia, where the mercury column could go up to and beyond 40 ° C. Subsequently, in the very last days of July, the high pressure should probably regain the lost positions, extending again also to the North and thus ensuring sunshine and warmth again throughout the country.
