Tax, too many quibbles: tax return sends 7 out of 10 Italians into a tailspin

The tax return still sends Italians into crisis. Taxpayers are not so scared by the tax burden as by the compilation process itself, which is a source of confusion for 7 out of 10 Italians. A survey conducted on 1,000 users reveals how the bureaucracy linked to taxes scares Italians. by Taxfix, a platform specialized in simplifying the tax galaxy. Data in hand, the insecurity in tax and financial education concerns 70% of the interviewed sample who say they are discouraged in front of the necessary documentation to be attached to the income tax return, motivating the choice by stating that they do not know which documents are required (41 %), having received unclear information on what is needed (28%) or why they do not know where to find them (22%). Furthermore, 54% are afraid of making mistakes and not respecting regulatory requirements, 53% feel disoriented by complexity of the process and 40%, finally, are worried about the time needed to deal with tax obligations which can actually take up to 48 hours of actual time to be completed. “We know that the Italian bureaucracy, and in particular that related to tax issues, can be improved, but it was significant and partly unexpected to discover that the compilation of the tax return is still considered such a stressful experience by Italians”, comments Matteo Stifanelli, Taxfix country manager for Italy.
