Development of the tax case of Andrej Kisk: The prosecutor filed a charge, the ex-president’s quick reaction! – New time

The prosecutor of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office (KP) Prešov filed a charge in the tax case of former President Andrej Kisk on Tuesday (April 12). The prosecutor’s office informed about it on the social network. “On April 12, 2022, the prosecutor of KP Prešov filed a charge in the District Court in Poprad against the accused EC for the continuing crime of tax fraud and against the accused AK for the continuing crime of tax fraud,” the prosecutor’s office explained. It concerns the unauthorized exercise of the right to a refund by the excess deduction by KTAG for June 2013, November 2013 and April 2014 in the total amount of EUR 155,184.40. “I don’t have such information yet,” Kiska told TASR, adding that he would only make a statement when he was aware of the indictment. “If convicted, he faces an unconditional sentence of imprisonment from seven to 12 years,” Peter Kováč, an associate professor of criminal law from the Faculty of Law at Trnava University in Trnava, told TASR. He added that the aggravating circumstance of the ex-president was the fact that he should have been the organizer of the crime. The case is related to the accounting of costs associated with the promotion of Kisk before the presidential election. The ex-president has long denied the crime and saw the revenge of the former prime minister and chairman of the opposition Smer-SD, Robert Fico. Kiska also argued that he was not charged until a third investigator after the two had not seen the crime. Fico has responded in the past that the presumption of innocence applies and the courts have to decide.
