Amara case, Prosecutor Storari acquitted for revelation of official secret

The Milan prosecutor Paolo Storari was acquitted of the accusation of disclosure of office secrecy. Storari, defended by the lawyer Paolo Della Sala, was accused of having provided the secret reports of five interrogations made by Amara, between December 6, 2019 and January 11, 2020, in which Eni’s former external lawyer revealed to the prosecutor. Minutes then ended up on the desks of at least a couple of newspapers.In the hearing on 3 February last, for more than three hours, the accused defended himself from the accusations by claiming that the delivery of interrogations and transcripts of three audio files to face some alleged disagreements with the Greek prosecutor (archived) and the adjunct Laura Pedio (still under investigation) took place in a lawful field, that is, he had been “reassured” by Davigo to be able to receive a copy as “the investigative secret on them was not against him as a member of the CSM “. For the prosecutor of Brescia, however, Storari would have acted” outside of any formal procedure “, reads the notice of conclusion of the investigations,” in the absence of an official reason authorizing the disclosure of the content of documents covered by investigative secrecy and without investing the competent institutional bodies responsible for supervising the activities of the judicial offices “. A gesture that would have damaged the investigation, created chaos in the judiciary and which led the councilor of the CSM Sebastiano Ardita, assisted by the lawyer Fabio Repici, to appear as a civil party because it was damaged by the dissemination of those reports. A thesis, that of the accusation, today rejected by the judge. With Storari’s acquittal, the only one on trial for the affair of the Hungarian lodge remains Davigo.
