According to the AP agency, a spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense, Igor Konashenkov, pointed this out at a briefing in Moscow on Sunday.

According to him, the Russian Ministry of Defense has “reliable information about Ukrainian fighter jets, which previously flew to Romania and other countries” neighboring Ukraine. Konashenko on behalf of Russia warned that “the use of the network of airports of these countries to shut down Ukrainian military aircraft and their subsequent deployment against the Russian armed forces can be considered as the involvement of these states in the armed conflict.”

Sky News noted that the warning came at a time when Poland was considering delivering its fighter jets to Ukraine. In this regard, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that his country was “very active” in providing military aircraft to Poland as a reserve should Warsaw send its aircraft to Ukraine. Konashenko also claimed at the briefing that Russian forces had scrapped “virtually all” Ukraine’s fighter jets.

CNN recalled that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly called on the Western powers to declare a no-fly zone over Ukraine in order to prevent further Russian attacks.

In the meantime, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Moscow will consider any country that establishes a no-fly zone over Ukraine as a participant in the ongoing military conflict.
