This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Igor Matovič (OĽANO) in the discussion program TA3 V politika. “Municipalities and cities will pay contributions from funds that they will receive, in essence, from the Ministry of Finance through the Ministry of the Interior. The moment they receive the funds, they pay them, no one has to pay anything from the reserve funds, “Matovič explained the method of providing a contribution for the accommodation of refugees.

He also explained that the municipalities will keep records of the number of refugees in each household, and thus check whether there is any fraud. According to him, they should be prevented by introducing a limit according to the size of the apartment. According to Matovič, the municipalities will send reports to the Ministry of the Interior, which will check whether, for example, two municipalities do not claim one refugee. “When it is checked, money is sent to the municipalities. In the course of the month following the accommodation, the municipalities should have the money at their disposal so that they can pay it out, “he added.

The Minister stated that according to the proposal, the accommodation provider should register with the municipality within five days after the end of the month. The municipality has to move the information of the Ministry of the Interior by the middle of the month, which must transfer the money provided by the Ministry of Finance to the municipality by the end of the month.

The support of seven euros per adult per day and three and a half euros per child per day will be the same for people who provide their private accommodation, as well as for guesthouses and hotels.

According to Matovič, the proposal is being processed and must be passed by parliament. According to him, the Ministry of Transport will be in charge of accommodation provided by pensions, hotels or hostels. The Ministry of the Interior will include the municipalities that will be in charge of paying the costs for the people who accommodate the refugees.

According to him, the payout should work until the end of June, but he thinks it is necessary to help as long as it is necessary. According to Matovič, those who already provide accommodation will receive the money back. According to him, the right to payment will apply for the period from 1 March, when it was possible to obtain the status of temporary refuge.
