Sponsorships for the presidential election: Jean-Luc Mélenchon exceeds 500 signatures

He is the eighth qualified candidate to run in the presidential election. With 540 signatures, Jean-Luc Mélenchon has exceeded the threshold of 500 necessary sponsorships, according to the latest count published by the Constitutional CouncilThursday, February 24.

He joins the seven candidates already qualified: the LR candidate Valérie Pécresse totals 2,271 sponsorships, followed by the Head of State Emmanuel Macron (1,544), not yet an official candidate, as well as the socialist Anne Hidalgo (1,226) and the ecologist Yannick Jadot (615) and communist Fabien Roussel (593). Then come Jean Lassalle (579) and Nathalie Arthaud (562).

A week before the closing of sponsorships, several candidates are still far from the mark. Sovereignist Nicolas Dupont-Aignan 457 sponsorships, followed by far-right candidates Eric Zemmour (415) and Marine Le Pen (414). Further on, we find François Asselineau (247), Philippe Poutou (243), Anasse Kazib (130), Christiane Taubira (128) and Hélène Thouy (97).
