The Princess of Monaco only appears on four pages: she goes, dark glasses on her nose, to the Casino de Monte-Carlo to attend a conference. On the way she meets children there, who are impatiently awaiting the next chess tournament at Le Rocher.

From the Palace to manga

“I am delighted with the release of the sixth volume of Blitz, magnificently sublimated by Garry Kasparov and drawn by Daitaro Nishihara. The idea of participating in the adventure Blitz immediately seduced me and I thank (the screenwriter, editor’s note), Cédric Biscay for inviting me to discover the world of manga”, declared Charlène de Monaco to the Parisianin a note sent by its editor.

According to Cédric Biscay, the Monegasque sovereign did not hesitate for a second when the latter proposed the project to her: “I asked her for her agreement to have her appear in Blitz and I went through the protocol route. It was about a year ago. She immediately accepted. Later, she was able to see the boards and she didn’t ask for any changes,” he says.

And Charlène of Monaco is not the only one to have had the right to her character in Blitz: her spouse, Prince Albert also made an appearance in June 2021 in volume 4 of the manga.
