Fatal hunting accident in Cantal: the 17-year-old girl indicted for “manslaughter”

The 17-year-old hunter, suspected of having killed a hiker during a hunting accident in Cantal, was indicted on Tuesday February 22 for “manslaughter” and placed under judicial supervision, said the public prosecutor d’Aurillac at France Télévisions.

The teenager is accused of accidentally killing a 25-year-old woman who was walking with a man on a marked hiking trail in Cassaniouze (Cantal), during a wild boar hunt on Saturday. She is also prohibited from possessing or carrying a weapon.

In shock, she presented herself as the author of the shooting on Saturday, and was taken to hospital. Taken into custody on Sunday, “she explained aiming at a boar, shooting, then hearing the cry of a man at the level of the paththe prosecution said in a statement on Monday. She indicated that she immediately transported herself to the level of the victim following this cry.”
