Macron called Vladimir Putin: The conversation lasted 45 minutes, what were they talking about? – NEW TIME

French President Emmanuel Macron spoke to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on Sunday. The conversation began as scheduled at 11:00 CET and lasted an hour and 45 minutes.

TASR took this information from the daily Le Figaro, quoting the opinion of the Elysee Palace. The Elysee Palace added that after talking to Putin, Macron telephoned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenysky.

Details on the topics and course of these talks have not yet been made public.

Putin and Macron met in person on February 7 in Moscow, discussing for more than five hours. A day later, the head of the Elysee Palace negotiated with Zelenský. After both meetings, he declared that he had been reassured of his willingness to abide by the 2015 conflict settlement agreements in eastern Ukraine in Minsk. He also sees “concrete, practical solutions” to reduce tensions between Moscow and the West.

However, the situation with Ukraine has deteriorated significantly in the meantime, so Macron has decided to make the “last possible and necessary” diplomatic efforts to prevent a major conflict in Ukraine. Zelensky previously called on his country’s Western allies to stop “concession policies” on Moscow.
