Great dam on the Nile: Ethiopia launches electricity production

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed officially launched the electricity production of the Grand Dam on the Blue Nile on Sunday February 20, an important step in this controversial multi-billion dollar project, according to an AFP correspondent on site.

Abiy Ahmed, accompanied by senior officials, toured the power plant and pressed a series of buttons on an electronic screen, which officials said triggered production.
