President Alassane Ouattara on France 24: “The end of Operation Barkhane leaves a big void”

The Ivorian President, Alassane Ouattara, gave an exclusive interview to France 24 and RFI from Brussels, where a summit between Africa and Europe is taking place. The Head of State deplored the presaged departure of French troops, which “leaves a great void”. He adds that it is up to the (African) national armies to solve the problems on their territories. Finally, Alassane Ouattara claims to be in contact with Laurent Gbagbo, the former president of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
