Storms are heading for Europe. They bring hundreds of lightning bolts and possible tornadoes at night. The strongest will be in the morning – iMeteo.sk

The wind in Europe is gaining momentum and is currently beginning in the British Isles. In a few hours, however, the weather will be dangerous in our area as well. In addition to strong winds, rain and storms must be expected.

The Dudley storm has already hit the coast of the British Isles, which is also plagued by waves. The strongest gusts are currently recorded in Scotland and Ireland, where gusts are still over 100 km / h. However, significant damage or injuries have not yet been reported. However, this should change during the night and in the morning.

During the night, the storm will gradually reach Central Europe, where we will call it Ylenia. Among the first affected areas will be northern Germany, where gusts of wind will also exceed speeds of up to 100 km / h. The North Rhine-Westphalia authorities have already closed schools and called on people to stay home, especially in the morning.

During the morning, the wind will reach the Czech Republic and our territory. The strongest wind in Slovakia is expected tomorrow after 12:00, when even in the lower parts of western Slovakia wind gusts can exceed 100 km / h. However, we are about the wind have already written HERE. What happens next is that, in addition to the storm, there are other dangerous phenomena in our area.

There is a risk of strong storms

A cold front will advance into our area around the pressure below Ylenia, which brings the already mentioned storm and will move across the North Sea over the Baltic. It will be located on the coasts of Denmark and Germany before midnight, where very dynamic conditions will prevail.

Due to suitable conditions, storms will start to form on this cold front. The first storms are expected around 22:00 in Denmark, and the main storm activity is expected to take place around 1:00 south of Hamburg and Rostock.

It is expected that a so-called storm squall-line will form here at the head of the cold front, which will begin to move southeast over the areas of eastern Germany, western Poland and northern the Czech Republic during the night hours. Subsequently, this weakening line should advance in the morning over Slovakia as well.

Storms can bring a tornado

Night storms are predicted to be strong. On the already mentioned storm squall-line, the gusting wind intensifies even more, up to a possible 120 km / h. At the same time, other storm parameters are extremely important in this area, which could bring more significant storms, which, in addition to wind, will be accompanied by heavy rain or hail. According to the meteorological service Estofex, it is the middle of February, but the dynamic parameters are so important that tornadoes can occur, especially in the north of Germany and in the west of Poland.

Estofex service forecast with the most dangerous locations

In the morning, the storms should weaken and the already weakened wave will arrive in the morning from the northwest and over our territory. In addition to strong winds, it is also necessary to prepare for possible precipitation or isolated storms.
