VIENNA. Austria will repeal almost all anti-pandemic measures with effect from 5 March.

This was announced by Chancellor Karl Nehammer at Wednesday’s press conference, informs TASR.

As of February 19, the 2G rule will be changed to 3G, which means that entry to gastronomic establishments, hotels, cultural events and the workplace will not only be allowed for vaccinated and survivors, but also for people with a negative test result.

This transitional phase will last until March 5, when the 3G rule will be completely repealed. Exceptions will only apply to areas at high risk, such as hospitals or nursing facilities.

The 3G rule will apply as a condition of entry into Austria from all countries except those where dangerous variants of the virus are spreading.

The people of Austria will not have to wear respirators after March 5 in most cases. These will be preserved, for example, in supermarkets, public transport, offices, post offices, banks, pharmacies and hospitals.

Restaurants they will be open from midnight on 5 March and bars, discos and nightclubs will also be open.

Nehammer outlined the relaxation of the measures following negotiations between the Austrian government, federal state representatives and experts from the Crisis Crisis Coordination Team (GECKO).
