Balneari, Rienzi (Codacons): “Good tenders but guarantee rights to managers who have invested”

“It was right to adapt to Europe and the government’s decision is correct, because it should serve to create more competition, which is more favorable for consumers. However, it must be said that when a state has kept the situation gangrenous for decades and has made these families invest millions, it is necessary that they have rights that are guaranteed to them “. This was stated to Adnkronos by the president of Codacons Carlo Rienzi, who thus intervenes on the affair of the seaside resorts, after the Council of Ministers has established the stop to the extension of the concessions that will be assigned by tender from 1 January 2024. “It is a situation that has crystallized for too many decades, and we cannot pretend that it does not exist”, Rienzi observes. Who points out: “There is a fine line between not nullifying the race by attributing too many privileges to bathing establishments, which would make the race useless, and guaranteeing these families a fair recognition for the investments made over the years”. To do this, observes the president of Codacons, “we need to look concretely, text in hand, to what extent the privileges they have decided to recognize to the old managers come to nullify the principles of the tender”. In other words, we must “avoid that any new entrepreneur does not have the courage to enter the race fearing to lose it because he will never be able to meet the requirements recognized by the current managers”, concludes Rienzi.
