Representatives of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) advanced to the semifinals of the Olympic hockey tournament in Beijing. In Wednesday’s quarterfinal match, they won over Denmark 3: 1.
The Pyongyang gold advocates are the second known semifinalists. The Slovak national team became the first after the victory over the USA 3: 2 after separate raids.

The first third brought a significant game dominance of the favored Russian selection. He won it 18: 1 on shots, but he didn’t know how to show the score for a long time. In the 10th minute, the pair Šipačov – Galijev did not succeed, who failed in front of the goalkeeper Dahm. In the 14th minute, the ROC players settled in the offensive zone and Šipačov opened the score after Gusev’s shot – 1: 0. The Danes continued to face offensive activity from Russian players, but did not let them into the opportunities until the end of the first part.
After the first break, the picture of the game changed, the Danes were bolder and exported pucks from their own band faster. In the 23rd minute, they took advantage of the confusion around the goalkeeper Fedotov and Frans Nielsen equalized – 1: 1. The Russian players gradually returned to a more offensive game and frequent puck holding, and in the 35th minute they regained a tight lead. The Danes paid for the loss of the puck in their own defensive zone, after which the Nester defender got to the shot and shot Dahma – 2: 1. Semyomov did not increase the lead in the subsequent counterattack.
Bödker didn’t have a chance. The Danes returned to a more active game in the third part. In an attempt to settle, they took several risks and the Russians subsequently got into several dangerous breaks. In the 55th minute, the goalkeeper Fedotov held his team after the renumbering of Nielsen. The Danes regretted it twice, because shortly after that the ROC team got to a power play, in which the defender Vojnov secured the lead of the favorite – 3: 1. In the end, the Danes got to the game without a goalkeeper, in which they settled in the offensive zone and threatened Fedotov several times, but he no longer collected.
