Beijing 2022, slalom: gold to Noel, Razzoli closes eighth

The French Clement Noel won the gold medal in the slalom in Beijing 2022. The transalpine with a super second heat finished with an overall time of 1.44.09 ahead of the Austrian Johannes Strolz with +0.61 silver, and the Norwegian Sebastian Foss -Solevaag at +0.70 bronze. Too bad for the Azzurri with Giuliano Razzoli who closes in eighth position with a delay of +0.96, while Tommaso Sala is 11th at +1.28. Alex Vinatzer went out in the second heat. On the Ice River track in Yanqing, the 24-year-old Frenchman Noel brings the transalpines back to the top step of the Olympic podium in the discipline after 20 years, he was missing since Salt Lake 2002. An almost perfect heat, especially in the second part of the race, which ended with time overall of 1’44 ″ 09, which gave Noel that medal already touched very young in PyeongChang. A large margin – well 61 cents – between the Frenchman and his direct opponent the Austrian Johannes Strolz, who thus succeeds in replicating the medals of his father Hubert, 34 years after gold in combined and silver in slalom in Calgary 1988. Third position for the Norwegian Sebastian Foss-Solevaag, who recovers a position to his teammate Henrik Kristoffersen, putting the Olympic bronze around his neck 70 cents from the winner. Giuliano Razzoli had to surrender after a great second heat, finishing in eighth place. The 37-year-old belonging to the Army Sports Center arrived just 26 cents from the podium, with a delay of 96 cents from the first place. Eleventh position for Tommaso Sala at 1 ″ 28, out instead Alex Vinatzer, who started at full speed to try to make up for the disadvantage of the first run but forking just a few doors from the finish.
