BEIJING – Andreas Žampa tried the slalom races after two years. After the 1st round of the Olympic competition at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, he was in 33rd place, right behind his older brother Adam.

In the second round he wants to improve his performance and he sent fans to Slovakia to watch hockey in addition to his ride. After crossing the finish line, the Slovak national team member did not know, he joined the older brother: “I thought Adam was in his early thirties. But I’ll try to do my best in the second round,” said the younger Žampa.

The leader after the first lap was the Austrian Johannes Strolz, who started with the number 19. The Austrian showed an aggressive ride with the maximum dose of risk and, although he did not avoid mistakes, he developed a close lead over the Norwegian co-Bavarian duo Henrik Kristoffersen and Sebastian Foss-Solevaag.

Hockey needs to be watched

“Today, everyone can win from the top twenty-five. It’s an incredibly open race and the only one who has the advantage is Strolz. He has gold in his pocket and went the most relaxed. We will go 99 percent against the USA in team races, so I hope it will be 2: 0 for us after this fight, “ said Zampa determinedly, adding: “Team competition will be about something else. But if there is an opportunity to go slalom at the Olympic Games, you have to go and you have to go with your heart and never give up.”

The younger of the brother said that he had been worried throughout his ride: “I broke my fingers on the gates about fifteen times in the slalom. And now, for the fourth time, I said to myself, aha, I already know why I’m just a giant. But I tried to go as aggressive as possible. It blew me down, I didn’t see much. We’ll see.” where I will get it in the second round and what about the slalom at all. ”
