How do I know if I am a voting jury for the elections for the Congress of the Republic of Colombia in 2022?

(CNN Spanish) — On March 13, legislative elections will be held in Colombia, in which Colombians will elect the representatives of the new Congress of the Republic. During the day there is a key figure that is essential to carry out these elections normally: the voting juries, who are responsible for providing information on election day.

727,823 citizens have been designated by lottery as voting jurors for the elections and, starting this Monday, February 14, they will be able to find out if they were selected, according to the National Registry of Civil Status.

What is the website that I must access to find out if I am a voting jury?

To make this query you must access the Registry page at the following link: infovotantescongreso.registraduria.gov.co/where it is enough to enter your ID number and verify the information.

You also have the option of downloading the “Infovotantes” application on your mobile device from the app store or from google play. Here you can also know the point where you should go to vote.

Is it mandatory?

Yes. According to the article 105 of the Electoral Code the position of voting jury is mandatory. Only in the event that the jury is seriously ill or their spouse, father, mother or child, or if a close family member has died, can they be excused from this mandatory service. If you have been selected you will have to attend the training given by the Registry. When you make the consultation, you will be told when and where you will be trained.

If they do not attend the training and on the day of the elections, those selected may be sanctioned with a fine equivalent to 10 current legal monthly minimum wages, that is, about 10 million pesos.

Legislative elections will take place on March 13.
