Panama deports Iranians who arrived from Venezuela with false documentation

(CNN Spanish) — Ten Iranians from Venezuela were returned to that country on Sunday, after being detected on Saturday with false documentation at the Tocumen international airport in Panama, the director of the National Migration Service, Samira Gozaine, told CNN.

Gozaine explained that migration officials noticed irregularities in the documentation presented by these people.

“They were returned to the country from which the flight originated,” Gozaine explained.

The official explained that the Iranians arrived on a flight from Caracas and were trying to board a plane to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, with false German residence cards. Gozaine declined to give additional details about the type of irregularities detected in the documents of the Iranian citizens or what documents they were.

CNN consulted the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry about the finding of Panama Migration and about the situation of the Iranians who were returned to the country, but so far we have not received a response.
