Putin likes some of Macron’s proposals for resolving the crisis – SME.sk

MOSCOW. Russian president Vladimir Putin late Monday night he announced several proposals submitted by the French president Emmanuelom Macronom in talks in Moscow may form the basis for progress in the crisis around Ukraine.

The AFP news agency informed about it.

“Several of his thoughts, suggestions … can be taken as a basis for the next steps,” Putin said after more than five hours of talks with Macron in the Kremlin.

Putin did not give any details, but added that the two leaders would call each other after Macron met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday.

The Russian president also said at a press conference that he was grateful to Macron for his efforts to resolve this security crisis.

“I would like to thank Mr Macron for the efforts that France is making to resolve this acute issue in our relations with ONTO“to create an environment of stability on the European continent, to resolve the crisis in the southeast of Ukraine,” Putin said.

Putin rejected the claims that Mask acts aggressively against Ukraine or the West.

“It is not we who are moving to NATO’s borders,” Putin added.

If Ukraine becomes a member of NATO’s Western military alliance, Russia will be drawn into a conflict with European countries, Putin warned.

“Do you want France to go to war with Russia?” Putin asked the question.

The Russian leader said that the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine should be blamed for its officials. “Kiev still rejects any opportunity for the peaceful restoration of its territorial integrity,” Putin said.

Macron flew to Moscow earlier this week of intense Western diplomatic efforts to allay fears of a Russian invasion of neighboring, pro-Western Ukraine. Russia has more than 100,000 troops gathered near the border with Ukraine.

The crisis began in December and Macron traveled to meet Putin as the first Western leader.
