Sanremo 2022, Mahmood and Blanco: “And now we go to the Eurovision Song Contest”

“People wanted to be with us, sing with us, show us their affection”. Mahmood and Blanco, the winners of Sanremo 2022 with the song ‘Shivers’, immediately felt the interest and consent around their musical couple and the song presented at the Festival. “No particular dedication for this piece, but there is a logical thread in the piece about episodes of my life”, explains Mahmood. “This song has been a long struggle, but beautiful things have to be worked on a lot” observes Blanco. Both are already projected into the immediate future: “I am happy that the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Italy, we will see you in Turin” confirms Mahmood. But will there be an English version of ‘Chills’? “We want to bring Italian music abroad – they say – we still don’t know, we’ll see …” A text that talks about love, its many facets and its many implications: Mahmood and Blanco describe the song ‘Broglie’ as “certainly autobiographical”, which reflects and tells “our experience”. After all, they underline, “the power of songs is to be sincere and to tell everything that happens to us, even feeling wrong, which is a basic fear that we all have, even when it seems overcome”.
