There are car manufacturers in which we can “break through” the onset of electromobility, but then there are those in which we cannot imagine a car without a powerful internal combustion engine. One such manufacturer is Lamborghini, which has announced the end of models with pure internal combustion engines, informs Electrek.

Emission targets are simply relentless and they also take their toll on the ranks of the most luxurious car manufacturers. Although the Lamborghini brand belongs to the wings of the VW Group, under the hood of these cars mostly hid their own engines and not any of the Group’s derivatives.

Of course, there are exceptions in the Lamborghini series as the Urus SUV, which shares the same engine with, for example, the Audi RS Q8, RS6 or RS7. But Urus is not the “Lambo” that the carmaker is proud of.

Cars with the soul of this Italian manufacturer hide under their hood the second generation of the legendary V12, which has its own specific sound and driving performance. Soon, however, even this bulky, 6.5-liter petrol engine may fall into oblivion.

Every other new “Lambo” as a hybrid or electric car

We do not have to worry about the loss of the legendary V12 yet. This top engine from the Lamborghini workshop will continue to be the “heart” of the fastest and most luxurious models.

This year we will see new models with a purely internal combustion engine, but from 2023 onwards, the electric motor will also help in every single “Lambo” burner.

The Italian supersport manufacturer will produce hybrid as well as plug-in hybrid engines. As the portal states AutoCar, in 2023 we will see a hybrid successor to the Aventador model, in 2024 Urus will come as a plug-in hybrid and in 2025 we will see the Huracán in a hybrid version.

A clean electric car from the Lamborghini workshop is expected to hit the market around 2028, and the carmaker’s director has confirmed that the vehicle will be a four-door vehicle. It will be either an SUV in the style of Urus or a GT in style Audi e-tron GT or Porsche Taycan.

He already has experience with hybrids

The carmaker Lamborghini already has experience with hybrid drive and thanks to it it was able to create its most powerful model so far, which is Lamborghini Sián. It hides under the hood a powerful 12-cylinder with a volume of 6.5 liters with a torque of 720 Nm from the Aventador SJV, which is modified to 774 horsepower. He is powered by a 48-volt electric motor with an output of 33 horsepower.

By combining these drives, this supersport offers a hybrid of 807 horsepower, surpassing even the fastest Lamborghini Aventador SJV with 770 horsepower. All power is transferred to the road via a 7-speed automatic transmission.

All this is combined with a rear mechanical self-locking differential and all-wheel drive. The acceleration of this novelty alone is not much better compared to the Aventador SJV and is in fact identical, ie 2.8 seconds at an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h.

However, the new Sian wins in acceleration from 30 to 60 km / h and from 70 to 120 km / h, which it can handle in as little as 0.2 s or 1.2 seconds, respectively, informs Engine1. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 350 km / h.

A reincarnated model acquired a similar hybrid system Lamborghini Countach, which will also be a real exclusivity, they will only make 112 pieces of it. This number was not just invented by the carmaker’s management, as it is a reference to the designation of the original Countach LP-112 model.

Not only the number of pieces produced, but also the price adds to the car’s full exclusivity. The new Lamborghini Countach will sell for 2.24 million euros. However, a limited number of pieces can eventually raise its price even higher.
