Prime Minister on the conclusions of the analysis on COMPULSORY vaccination: It is possible! It can be introduced in four ways – Topky.sk

Compulsory vaccination is a legitimate tool of the state

The Prime Minister commented on the conclusions of the analysis on the introduction of compulsory vaccination before the beginning of the government’s negotiations. “Mandatory vaccination against COVID is a legitimate state tool to protect public health. The analysis makes it clear that vaccines are safe, prevent the spread of the disease, and reduce the risk of hospitalization and subsequent death. The benefits of vaccination are demonstrable.” he said.

Four ways to implement it

According to the Prime Minister, compulsory vaccination can be introduced in four ways:

– amending the Decree of the Ministry of Health (No. 585 of 2008).
– amendment of the Decree of ÚVZ SR or RÚVZ SR
– amendment of the Public Health Protection Act
– by introducing a separate law.

The omicron wave is rising sharply

“Today we are in a soaring wave of omicrons and we are waiting for it to show up in hospitals. We don’t have enough data yet and we have to wait for the wave to fade. The variant is spreading very fast, which we still see today in a record number of positive tests,” said the prime minister. Today, there have been almost 14,000 positive cases.

He noted that he started to deal with compulsory vaccination at a time when the delta variant was “strong” in Slovakia and hospitals were filled with people aged 60+. Slovakia does not yet have sufficient data in connection with the filling of hospitals with the omicron variant. “If a variant reappears that could get people back to hospitals, then we can consider mandatory vaccinations.” stated.

Data evaluation will be important

He points out that omicron is spreading rapidly and that those who are not vaccinated have a 25 percent lower risk of hospitalization. “However, our vaccination coverage is low, so we can’t wave it over.” stated. According to the Prime Minister, monitoring and evaluation of data in connection with the omicron will be important.

Heger declared that the government would publish an analysis of mandatory vaccinations. Pursuant to the approved government resolution, it was to address the possibility of introducing compulsory vaccination against COVID-19 and the possibility of limiting reimbursement from public health insurance for health care provided to a person who decided not to be vaccinated voluntarily.
