• In addition, it does not comply with the legislation applicable to electric bicycles, allowing the rider to start without pedaling.

The Slovak Trade Inspection Authority (SOI) has issued an official warning against the Eurobike EB40 electric bicycle. During the inspection, she immediately revealed several problems. Consumers have the right to a refund of the full purchase price of the bicycle from the seller from whom they purchased it.

Specifically, it should be a model with a sprung front fork, mechanical disc brakes and 26-inch wheels. The battery is integrated directly in the frame and the electric motor in the rear wheel hub. On the outside, the bicycle looks more like a classic mechanical vehicle, not an electric one.

The SOI states that the inspection revealed an “insufficient design”. It is said to have “serious shortcomings” in the strength of the front fork, steering system and seat clamp. Prolonged use or impact may break these components and cause the rider to fall, resulting in a serious injury.

He has an illegal “gas” lever

Experts found not only mechanical but also electrical shortcomings. In particular, the electric bicycle does not comply with the applicable legislation, which stipulates that the electric drive can only assist the rider, and only when he is actively pedaling.

However, the problem model offers a separate lever for controlling the electric motor, which allows starting without the active intervention of the rider via the pedals. Therefore, the sale of this bicycle was suspended.
