Hygienists have discovered dozens of new cases of omicron in Slovakia – TVNOVINY.sk

Hygienists have discovered 34 new cases of omicron. This was confirmed by the chief hygienist Ján Mikas. Thus, a total of 54 cases of a new coronavirus mutation have been confirmed in Slovakia.

A travel history was confirmed in 19 persons, in eight cases it was a contact with a positive person, in whom the omicron variant was already confirmed by sequencing. In seven cases, the positive test persons did not report a travel history.

All cases were mild or asymptomatic.

Eight positives were unvaccinated, two were partially vaccinated. The others were completely vaccinated.

“Residents are strongly advised to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or to receive a booster dose at the recommended time. Vaccination significantly reduces the risk of severe infection and severe COVID-19 disease. We ask people to adhere to precautionary measures, regardless of their immune status: Wear a properly fitted respirator, ventilate the rooms frequently and abruptly, keep a safe distance from other people and disinfect your hands on an ongoing basis, ”recommends Mikas.
