Covid today Emilia, 12,255 infections and 15 deaths: January 1st bulletin

There are 12,255 new coronavirus infections in Emilia Romagna according to today’s bulletin, January 1, 2022. There are also another 15 deaths. Since the beginning of the epidemic, 549,175 cases of positivity have been recorded in the region, the total number of swabs performed in the last 24 hours is 51,575. The percentage of new positives on the number of swabs made is 23.7%, a value not indicative of the general trend given the number of swabs performed, which on holidays is lower than on other days and above all molecular swabs are made primarily on cases for which a positive result is often expected. 124 patients are currently hospitalized in the intensive care units in Emilia-Romagna (+8 compared to yesterday); the average age is 62.8 years. Of the total, 89 (therefore 72%) are not vaccinated (average age 60.9 years), while 35 are vaccinated with a full cycle (average age 67.4 years). As for the patients admitted to the other Covid departments, they are 1,359 (+13 compared to yesterday), average age 69.2 years. In this new phase of the epidemic, characterized by the Omicron variant and the high percentage of vaccinated people, the strong growth of new infections continues, which however corresponds to an increase in hospitalizations that is not as exponential. Compared to the 10,167 new cases recorded yesterday, the growth of infections today recorded a + 20.5% (+ 43% yesterday), while that of hospitalized in Covid wards a + 1% and in intensive care a + 6.9%, again compared to yesterday, while the anti-Covid vaccination campaign continues. At 2 pm a total of 8,458,268 doses were administered; out of the total 3,610,748 people over 12 who have completed the vaccination cycle. The third doses are 1.383.709. The control and prevention activity continues: of the newly infected, 6,258 are asymptomatic identified as part of the regional contact tracing and screening activities. Overall, among the new positives 169 were already in isolation at the time of swab execution, 508 were identified within already known foci. The median age of new positives today is 37.1 years. Of the 6,258 asymptomatic, 239 were identified thanks to contact tracing, 71 with serological screening, 138 through tests for risk categories introduced by the Region, 9 through pre-hospitalization tests. The epidemiological investigation is still underway for 5,801 cases. The situation of infections in the provinces sees Bologna with 3,021 new cases, followed by Rimini (1,703). Then Ravenna (1.183), Reggio Emilia (1.165), Parma (1.101) and Modena (1.087). Then Cesena (965), Ferrara (773), Forlì (662) and the Imola district (344). Finally, Piacenza with 251 new cases. These are the data – ascertained at 12 noon today on the basis of institutional requests – relating to the progress of the epidemic in the region. In the last 24 hours, 25,872 molecular swabs were carried out, for a total of 7,316,502. To these are added 25,703 rapid antigen tests. As for the total number of people healed, there are 831 more than yesterday and they reach 446,078. The active cases, that is the actual patients, today are 88,866 (+11,409). Of these, people in isolation at home, i.e. those with mild symptoms who do not require hospital treatment or are symptom-free, are a total of 87,383 (+11,388), 98.3% of the total number of active cases. deaths: two in the province of Reggio Emilia (2 women, respectively 78 and 90 years old); one in the province of Modena (1 81-year-old woman); two in the province of Bologna (2 men aged 64 and 89 respectively); three in the province of Ravenna (1 woman aged 77 and 2 men aged 80 and 81); two in the province of Forlì-Cesena (an 89-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man, not vaccinated); four in the province of Rimini (all women aged 70, 72, 76 and 88 respectively). There was also the death of a 70-year-old man residing outside the region but hospitalized in Ferrara. No deaths in the provinces of Piacenza and Parma. In total, there have been 14,231 deaths in the region since the start of the epidemic. In the area, patients admitted to intensive care are distributed as follows: 1 in Piacenza (-1 compared to yesterday), 10 in Parma (unchanged); 12 in Reggio Emilia (unchanged); 14 in Modena (+2); 29 in Bologna (+3); 8 in Imola (unchanged); 18 in Ferrara (+1); 12 in Ravenna (unchanged); 1 in Forlì (unchanged); 4 in Cesena (+1); 15 in Rimini (+2). These are the cases of positivity in the area since the beginning of the epidemic, which refer not to the province of residence, but to the one in which the diagnosis was made: 31,675 in Piacenza (+251, of 60 of which symptomatic), 40,292 in Parma (+1,101, of which 101 symptomatic), 63,884 in Reggio Emilia (+1,165, of which 967 symptomatic), 88,297 in Modena (+1,087, of which 411 symptomatic), 113,097 in Bologna (+ 3021, of which 1,284 symptomatic), 17,570 cases in Imola (+344, of which 195 symptomatic), 34,718 in Ferrara (+773, of which 125 symptomatic), 47,358 in Ravenna (+1,183, of which 703 symptomatic), 26,275 a Forlì (+662, of which 543 symptomatic), 29,788 in Cesena (+965, of which 570 symptomatic) and 56,221 in Rimini (+1.703, of which 1,038 symptomatic). Compared to what was communicated in recent days, 2 cases deemed non-Covid-19 cases have been eliminated.
