Firefighters had a hard New Year’s Eve: They intervened in dozens of fires! Sad statistics – Topky.sk

“Of the total number of fires, 39 were caused by fireworks, with most such fires occurring in the Bratislava (13) and Trnava regions (7),” Križanová approached. Fireworks mainly caused fires in containers and balconies.

In several cases, however, firefighters also had to intervene in fires of passenger cars and the roof of a family house. Compared to the previous year, the number of all fires increased by up to 45 cases, the total number of all exits increased by 24. The number of fires caused by fireworks increased by 12 cases.

During the night, containers burned in several places

Firefighters from the Trnava region completed seven interventions on burning containers, extinguishing a fire in the roof of a family house and a garbage fire in an abandoned nursery during New Year’s Eve. No events were injured in any of the incidents. A member of the Operations Center of the Regional Directorate of the Fire and Rescue Corps of the Slovak Republic in Trnava informed about it.

The containers burned from midnight to 3.15 in Piešťany, Hlohovec, Leopoldov, Trstice, Trnava, Skalica and Galanta. In Šoporna in the district of Galanta at 0.05 h they reported a fire on the roof of a family house, which probably occurred in connection with the handling of pyrotechnics. In the same village, firefighters also employed a small fire of stacked garbage in the old kindergarten.
