The Czech Republic is sad, the founding member of the Olympic group has died – TVNOVINY.sk

Pavel Chrastina, a founding member of the Olympic group, bassist and lyricist, died at the age of 81. His wife Eva Dudková informed about his death on Tuesday, the news server iDNES.cz wrote.

As a student at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, he founded the Samuel’s Band with his classmates at the castle in Poděbrady, Peter Kaplan and Jiří Doležal. Four years later, he stood at the birth of the Olympic group, which until then had been called Hood.

The iDNES.cz server emphasizes that thanks to its influence, the accompanying Dixieland ensemble has become a successful rock and roll band with the original repertoire and its own lyrics.
Chrastina worked at the Olympic until 1969, considering the best period to be 1967 and 1968, when, according to him, the group had no competition in what was then Czechoslovakia.

He left the Olympic so that he could fully study film at FAMU in Prague. This greatly damaged his relations with the other members of the group.

He emigrated to Australia in 1980 and moved to the United States after ten years. He returned to the Czech Republic only in 1994, writing scripts, film directing, journalism and poetry.
