“Let’s go Brandon”: Joe Biden insulted with half-word during a Christmas phone call to an American family – LCI

From the White House and in front of the cameras on Christmas Eve, Joe Biden spoke on the phone, to children and families who, it is the tradition in the United States, call a special line to follow the tour of the Santa Claus in the world. But the Democratic president was quickly overtaken by the very strong political antagonisms in the United States, by being insulted half-word by his interlocutor.

The scene occurred via video conference from the White House, when Jill and Joe Biden were put in touch with a man who said his name was Jared, a father of four. After talking briefly with the children about the ordered gifts and having them go to bed before midnight, Joe Biden points out to his interlocutor that they both have a son named Hunter.

Ending the conversation, the US president wishes “a wonderful Christmas” to the father, who replies to him “I also wish you have a wonderful Christmas, Merry Christmas” before finishing his remarks with “Let’s go Brandon”. “Let’s go Brandon, I agree”, answers Joe Biden, without further reaction to this coded formula which actually means “Fuck Joe Biden” (“Joe Biden, go fuck yourself …”).

While it was not immediately possible to determine whether the president had grasped the reference, Jill Biden on the other hand had an embarrassed laugh and mimicry with her eyes. The video excerpt from this exchange has gone viral on social networks, with some internet users hailing the president for remaining unmoved.

It all started with the mistake of an NBC reporter interviewing racing driver Brandon Brown in early October after his victory on a NASCAR circuit. Raising her voice to cover the rumor rising from the stands, she says: “And you can hear the crowd chanting: Come on Brandon!”, as viewers clearly hear the crowd chanting “Fuck Joe Biden!”.

Expression “Let’s Go Brandon” quickly became a slogan for insulting Joe Biden without uttering the “F word”, rude word proscribed. In addition to regular supporters of Donald Trump, top Republican politicians have even echoed this formula.
