The spokesperson of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Alexandra Važanová informed about it.

“The Senate concluded that the reasons for the continued detention for the defendant had passed and he had been released from custody,” the spokeswoman said.

At Wednesday’s closed session, the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic annulled a resolution of the Specialized Criminal Court (ŠTS), which had previously rejected Ľubomír Arpáš’s request for release from custody.

Together with František Polák and Ľubomír T., Ľubomír Arpáš is accused of continuing a particularly serious crime of extortion, money laundering and the crime of bribery. They were indicted during last year’s Babylon operation, in which the National Criminal Agency (NAKA) detained five people. The case is being heard by ŠTS, Banská Bystrica.
