12:00 Slovakia will purchase 32,100 packs of Paxlovid for the treatment of COVID-19. At a meeting on Wednesday, the government decided to cancel the purchase of 35,000 packages of Lagevrio with the active ingredient molnupiravir.

“Given the current development of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is necessary to ensure the availability of all the latest treatment options for COVID-19 in adequate quantities for the needs of the citizens of the Slovak Republic on the basis of data analyzes as soon as possible,” stated by the Ministry of Health in the submitted material. In view of the above, according to the Ministry of Health, from the point of view of public health protection, it is necessary to ensure the acceleration of the supply of drugs containing drugs included in the group of direct-acting antivirals for oral administration for the treatment of COVID-19.

The drugs should be available in Slovakia during the first three months of next year. “However, vaccination is still the most effective protection and the most cost-effective one.” said Minister of Health Vladimir Lengvarsky.

At Wednesday’s meeting, the government approved an amendment to its resolution of 14 December. Abolition of the Council of the Government of the Slovak Republic to support exports

The government should also negotiate the approval of the statute of the Council of the Government of the Slovak Republic for Competitiveness and Productivity from the workshop of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic. In particular, the Council is to ensure the evaluation of materials submitted to government meetings, to be responsible for better regulation policy and to oversee the reduction of the regulatory burden. The submitted document also repeals the Council of the Government of the Slovak Republic to support exports and investments.

Lengvarsky informed about the vaccinated

In Slovakia, more than 50 percent of the population is vaccinated. This was stated before Wednesday’s government meeting by the Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic Vladimír Lengvarský (OĽaNO nominee).

“Already half of the population living in Slovakia has been vaccinated with at least the first dose of the vaccine,” said Lengvarsky. As he added, if we look in detail at the vaccination numbers of people over the age of 18, it can be stated that “more than six out of ten Slovaks are vaccinated”. According to Lengvarsky, the meeting is not scheduled until the opening of gastronomic establishments. “It certainly won’t be in the government,” said Lengvarsky.

Selection procedure for directors and leaders in cultural institutions

The directors and senior employees of cultural and educational institutions are to be selected through a selection procedure for a five-year term. The founders will not be able to revoke them without giving a reason. All-Slovak cultural and educational facilities are also to cover the financing of a nationwide system of progressive competitions and shows in the field of hobby artistic activity and non-professional artistic creation. This follows from the draft amendment to the Act on Cultural and Enlightenment Activities, which was approved by the government on Wednesday.

In the submission material, the Ministry of Culture (MC) of the Slovak Republic explained that the statutory, or the chief employee of the cultural and educational facility, will be appointed on the basis of the result of the selection procedure, which will include a public hearing of candidates. The successful candidate will have a five-year term in office. “The establishment of the method of staffing and the length of the term of office of the statutory bodies and managers of cultural education facilities will unify the conditions and streamline the results expected from the managers of cultural education facilities.” explained the ministry.
