Honda Civic Type R will be Honda’s last car with a purely internal combustion engine.
Honda Civic Type R is still present in our market and will remain so for at least another few years. However, next year, with the model year 2023, a completely new generation will come. The car will be based on a technically significantly dug up new generation of the model, which will reach customers in the autumn of next year. However, the new Civic will come to Europe with an exclusively hybrid system, similar to the Jazz and HR-V models. Honda will gradually phase out all purely internal combustion engines and replace them with a hybrid that the customer could try on both the Jazz and CR-V models. The basis for both models is just a different engine.
However, electricity will not buzz under the hood of the Civic Type R. Instead, we should expect a overmotivated two-liter turbo engine with a power slightly higher than the current generation – 306k. Traditionally, it will be a car with front-wheel drive and a self-locking differential between the wheels. The current generation already provides a really generous sports experience. The new one should move further in this direction as well, it should overcome the times on the circuits of the current version and it should add a bit of a feeling of higher quality and new technologies. In particular, it delivers a less extravagant design with more smooth surfaces.
The new Type R repeatedly appeared in disguised form this autumn, and then the site did Kolesa.ru together with his faithful graphic artist Nikit, sketches based on a masked vehicle. Perhaps we will see a new attempt to break the front-wheel drive speed record for this generation as well. Significant to the video is the improvement that the model owners really demanded. This should be ensured by the new exhaust system, which comes in a three-exhaust configuration but with a different setting (just look at the tailpipes – this time the largest medium, which takes care of the sound of the car).
