MUNICH – Slovak hockey players under the age of 20 flew to Canada on Wednesday, where they will perform at the Junior World Championships at the turn of the year. They are in a good mood for the championship and they can’t wait for the first sharp duel at the World Cup.

The bus with 14 players and 11 members of the implementation team left Piešťany shortly after six o’clock in the morning, arriving at Munich Airport before 1 p.m. They were waiting for a flight from Munich to Edmonton and then a trip to the town of Red Deer, where they will set up their camp during the World Cup “20”. The players shortened the first part of the journey by catching up with their sleep deficit, while the fun took over the reins. “Ďuro Slafkovský, Šimon Nemec, Roman Faith and Rayen Petrovický probably did the biggest,” revealed by Samuel Krajč. “But I can’t say what we were talking about doesn’t belong on the air. But they were real pike.” said Dukla Trenčín forward for the hockeyslovakia.sk portal.

Krajča is waiting for the premiere and at the same time the last junior championship, as in a year she will no longer fall into the age category that can start at a traditional Christmas event. Last year did not make the final nomination due to health problems in the final stages of preparation: “The adrenaline is rising slowly. I’m starting to realize we’re already going there. I’m really looking forward to it. Most of all, maybe the speed. The guys told me the junior championship is a different level. I can’t wait for the matches.”

Rayen Petrovicky also ran the first phase of the trip to Red Deer relatively quickly. “We slept a lot since we got up and left early in the morning. But it went pretty fast. It’s a complicated move. I’m used to moving and waiting when I go to and from Finland. But I admit, I don’t have much experience with such a long time, ” added one of the most experienced defenders in the selection of coach Ivan Feneš.

The second part will join the half-Slovak expedition overseas. When the Slovaks arrive at the hotel in Red Deere, thirteen hockey players working overseas should already be quarantined in self-isolation. The fourteenth, Servác Petrovský, will join just before midnight, as he will have a match on Wednesday evening local time. At the airport in Edmonton, after arriving from Munich, the team undergoes mandatory PCR testing.

He then moves to Red Deer, 150 kilometers away, where he undergoes 48 hours of isolation. In case of negative test results, Slovaks can join the training on the morning of December 18, Canadian time. Two days later, from 8 pm CET, they will be checked in the first preparatory duo, the Finns, and in the second, they will play on the night of December 21-22 against the Austrians. The World Championship will open on the night of December 27 from 3.30 CET with a duel against the USA.
