First Ford Mustang Reviewed by the famous Texan trainer Carroll
Shelby After winning a race, the GT350R chassis 5R002 served as a prototype for the development of future models. Passed through the hands of star pilots of the 60s such as Bob Bondurant or
Ken miles, this car was widely used before being bought for the modest sum of 4,000 dollars by a Ford Performance engineer.
The latter then grafted him another V8 engine, derived from the Ford GT40 competition. After being abandoned for almost 20 years, the car was on display at the Shelby Museum before being restored and reassembled to its original configuration. Sold at auction last year, it reached an insane amount of 3.4 million euros. Released by Mecum Auctions in an upcoming 2022 sale, it should do even better, which would make it the most expensive Mustang in history!
