Covid Italy, EU: “No notification on mandatory tampons for travel”

“We have not received any notification on mandatory tests for travelers” headed to Italy from other EU countries, including vaccinated against Covid-19, a measure announced yesterday evening with an order from the Ministry of Health. This was underlined by the spokesman of the European Commission for Justice Christian Wigand, during the press briefing in Brussels. “To maintain a coordinated approach – recalls Wigand – member states are obliged to inform the Commission and other member states in advance, when they decide” additional restrictions on intra-EU travelers. “We reminded Italy of these obligations: additional restrictions are only possible when necessary. We will look at the measures announced when they are notified by Italy”, he concludes. HOPE ORDER – In the new ordinance signed by the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza there is an “obligation to have a negative test on departure for all arrivals from European Union countries”. “For the unvaccinated, in addition to the negative test, a 5-day quarantine is foreseen”, it is specified. The ordinance is valid starting from December 16 and until January 31. With regard to tests, the ordinance provides for the “presentation at the time of embarkation of the certification of having undergone, in the 48 hours prior to entry into the national territory, to a molecular test carried out by means of a swab and a negative result, or an antigen test, carried out by means of a swab and a negative result, in the 24 hours prior to entry into the national territory “. Furthermore, “the measures already envisaged for arrivals from non-European countries are extended” states the ordinance.
