You are looking at the second generation of the Genesis flagship. The model called the Genesis G90 showed its appearance at the end of November, but now it’s time to present the luxurious interior and technology. Also, none of the brand’s models have yet, and their presence speaks for itself: Genesis wants to fight significantly for customers who have so far decided exclusively between the Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 and Audi A8. And maybe it can grab the wallet and the heart of customers from even higher or alternative rungs of the ranking. Especially for BMW drivers, the car has gigantic turn signals as proof that the driver of this car also really controls the rules of the road and is not afraid to use them in practice (there is room for your Huron laughter …. and let’s move on).

I have already written about the services that Genesis is preparing for the spoiled Europeans, now it is time to find out something about the new top work of the brand, which belongs under the wings of the Hyundai concern.

The underbody of a vehicle with a shorter wheelbase is the well-known 3.5-liter six-cylinder T-GDi with double injection and turbocharger. It can transmit its 380 hp and 530 Nm to the rear or both axles via an eight-speed automatic transmission. A novelty is a 3.5-liter six-cylinder with mild-hybrid 48 V technology and an electric compressor (electric blower). It accelerates responses to the accelerator pedal and improves torque at low and medium speeds. Its final parameters have not yet been announced, a different course of torque can be expected, perhaps a higher maximum.

For the first time, the new chassis includes air suspension with the ability to anticipate unevenness on the road and thus improve driving comfort while maintaining dynamic parameters. I remember well as Chief Genesis a few years ago he spoke fieryly that the Germans no longer really knew what to do with goodness and invented bullshit instead of improving the quality of workmanship and the overall feeling of luxury. And he said that in connection with the air suspension connected to the camera system – that is, in connection with the technology that Genesis proudly presents today as its own. You can have an opinion, but it is irrelevant if the customer has a different opinion.

Based on data from the front camera and navigation system, the system changes the chassis settings, increases it by a maximum of 25 mm when driving on worse roads and can also identify impending unevenness and lifts the front of the car about 100 meters in front to increase comfort when driving through unevenness. Thanks to the multi-chamber air suspension, the car can maintain the specified ground clearance regardless of the load, and when driving at higher speeds, it can reduce the vehicle and thus improve aerodynamics and improve consumption.

The system can also raise the front axle when driving downhill. This will help protect the vehicle’s windshield from contact with the road when descending at the moment of leveling the road.

Another novelty is the active steering of the rear axle, a thing with which the 7 series and, in part, the Audi A8 scored points. A year ago, it was imported by the new S-Class and now the G90. Just the G90 can do a maximum of 4 ° turns in the opposite direction of the rear wheels when parking and a maximum of 2 ° turns in the direction of cornering dynamics. Nothing extra, but even this trifle significantly increases the travel speeds of a large car and especially improves maneuverability in the parking lot. In the case of the G90, somewhere at the level of a middle class sedan. The way in which the engine is mounted is also crucial in this respect – only on the middle class. Not every manufacturer has enough space between the wheels than those with a classic concept and an engine mounted longitudinally.

The latest version of the ANC-R noise cancellation system, which has been dimensioned for each seat separately, ensures driving comfort. Body reinforcements as well as new insulation elements at key points contribute to complete silence. A big benefit is the laminated insulating glass on all windows, including the small glass in the rear door behind the pull-down section.

Interesting is the keyless start function, which can use a smartphone as a key to open the vehicle when approaching it instead of the standard key, and uses a fingerprint inside.

Stylish is the keyless opening of the trunk, which activates the fact that the driver or passenger approaches the trunk and waits for three seconds. So there is really no danger of digging into the sensor. And the driver’s door can also open and close automatically. When getting out, the brake must be applied, when getting on, just touch the door handle.

For luxury in the rear seats, there is not only a version with an extended wheelbase, which is up to 5465 mm long, but also a VIP seat on the right rear. At the rear you can have a two-seater layout, in addition, the driver has a loudspeaker in the headrest, which sends some warnings straight to his head only so that the passengers in the rear are not disturbed. At the back, passengers have a 10.2-inch touch screen that automatically tilts according to seat settings, and everyone can serve their viewer individually or with separate bluetooth headphones. In the center panel, there is an 8-inch touch screen to control virtually anything you can think of, including air conditioning and a massage function.

The air purity is ensured by the antibacterial filters of the built-in air purifier and the photocatalysis module for sterilizing the air in the cabin. In addition to a high-quality dishwasher near the owner’s residence, the surfaces covered with Silver Zinc Zeolite antibacterial material, which prevent the growth of bacteria on the skin, handles but also in the underlays, and so on, ensure the cleanliness of the interior surfaces. In the cabinet in the middle panel at the back, there are also ultraviolet radiators for disinfecting the things stored in them. The VIP seat also has new footrests, including heating for more comfortable sitting or even lying down. The massage function in the leather perforated cooled and heated seats is provided by 10 air cushions in one backrest and two in the seat. An interesting feature is that it releases the pillows so that they do not resist when boarding. When the seat is released or filled with passengers, the cushions also return to their original form.

There are also a lot of assistance systems on board, and an active highway assistant is a matter of course. However, according to the press release, it seems that there are not enough assistance systems to keep up with the new Class S. And the message for all the little things: the parking assistant for automatic parking parks transversely, longitudinally and diagonally, but only on the basis of parking lines. Well, admit it, it’s a little behind the zenith, isn’t it?

The equipment includes a premium Bang and Olufsen audio system with 23 speakers and a Mood Curator controlling both ambient lighting, massage functions, music and more, as well as three perfumes.
