FRANCE: DJEBBARI NOT “WORRIED” AT THIS STAGE AFTER THE FATAL ACCIDENT INVOLVING A TESLA IN PARIS

PARIS (Reuters) – Transport Minister Jean-Baptiste Djebbari said on Wednesday he had “no concerns” at this point after the fatal accident involving a Tesla taxi last Saturday in Paris and that the judicial investigation would shed light on this matter.

“At this stage we have no technical element which would make us believe that there is a problem of technical malfunction on these models,” said Jean-Baptiste Djebbari on RMC, assuring that he had “no worries”.

While the Parisian taxi company G7 announced on Tuesday to shut down its 37 Tesla Model 3 electric vehicles following this accident, the minister specified that it was a question of applying the precautionary principle.

According to Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, the CEO of Tesla Europe is not aware of “any alert of this type”, while the Tesla Model 3 is one of the best-selling vehicles in the world and that 70,000 copies are currently in circulation in Europe.

The management of the group said to have “provided all the technical data to justice, to the prosecution in particular which is carrying out the investigation”, added Jean-Baptiste Djebbari.
