In France, about 400 investigations have been opened into groups offering counterfeit covidpas, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said on Sunday evening. According to him, the authorities discovered several thousand forged certificates used throughout the country, the AP agency reported.

In recent days, the French media reported a case of an infected woman coronavirus, who died at a Paris hospital after showing a false vaccination certificate. The head of the local intensive care unit said that the woman would be treated with antibodies immediately if they knew she had not received the vaccine.

Darmanin did not specify in the RTL broadcast how many people were detained in connection with the above-mentioned investigations, and did not provide details of these cases. He only said that some are “associated with health professionals”.

The French government is tightening measures related to the use of covidpas, which are needed to enter restaurants and a growing number of other establishments and events, writes AP. France has seen a significant increase in hospitalizations and the highest daily number of new infections since the beginning of the pandemic last week. The government is speeding up revaccination with booster doses in an effort to reduce pressure on hospitals. Coronavirus patients have filled half the beds in intensive care units in the country and are postponing non-surgical operations in several regions.

The government has closed nightclubs and tightened social separation rules, but is working to avoid a new lockdown. Health Minister Olivier Véran told Le Parisien that although the current wave of the epidemic is strong, there are signs of a slowdown in infections. According to him, 90 percent of people over the age of 65 have received booster doses.
