An extremely strong wind will blow in the vicinity of Košice, Michalovce, Trebišov and Rožňava – TVNOVINY.sk

During the whole territory of Slovakia, it is necessary to count on the formation of snow tongues during the Sunday, with snowdrifts and places with a strong wind. This is pointed out by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ), which issued warnings in this regard.

According to meteorologists, the formation of snow tongues represents a potential danger for transport activities. Their occurrence is common at a given time of year, it can cause minor damage.

The strong wind warning applies to all regions except Žilina. According to SHMÚ, in some places it can reach an average speed of around 45 kilometers per hour and in gusts a speed of 65 to 85 kilometers per hour, which poses a potential danger to human activities.

In the Košice region, a second-degree warning against strong winds applies. It can reach an average speed of around 60 kilometers per hour and in bursts of 85 to 90 kilometers per hour.

It also blows in the mountains, in the Banská Bystrica, Trenčín, Košice, Prešov and Žilina regions. According to meteorologists, the wind will reach speeds of 110 to 135 kilometers per hour in gusts, which poses a potential danger to human activities, especially for hiking and mountaineering.
