An extremely strong wind will blow in the east of Slovakia. Three regions are endangered – TVNOVINY.sk

The pressure below, coming from the central Mediterranean, will bring a strong wind to Slovakia on Saturday night. It blows the most in Dolný Zemplín, Abov and Turniansko, where the wind can suddenly reach a speed of more than 80 kilometers per hour. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) informs about it on the social network. He issued a 2nd degree warning for these areas.

“The average speed will also be high, especially in the Košice Basin and the East Slovakian lowlands it will reach the strength of a strong to stormy wind,” meteorologists said. The wind will start to weaken on Sunday evening (December 12), in the east it will not be more pronounced until Monday (December 13).

In the Zemplín area, SHMÚ also warns of precipitation, but it should not be heavy. “It will be gradually snowing on Monday night, so the wind can also create snow tongues, exceptionally snowdrifts,” added meteorologists. However, due to windy weather, according to them, snow tongues can also form in areas without precipitation, but with a snow cover already created. “Exceptionally, branches / trees can also fall in combination with heavy snow and strong winds,” SHMÚ recommended.
