The head of state attended the event in two panels, where he and other leaders presented their visions and commitments on how to stabilize and improve the quality of democracy and democratic institutions. According to the President’s Office, the spread of hoaxes and misinformation on social networks was also a frequent topic in speeches in connection with the weakening of democratic regimes. “The international community needs to start working hard to combat hybrid threats and the role of social media in spreading lies and misinformation.” said Čaputová.

Slovakia’s priorities, which the president emphasized, mainly include judicial reform, the fight against corruption, transparency of business processes and freedom of the media. The President also took part in a discussion on the prevention and fight against corruption, hosted by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, during which she presented the specific measures that the Slovak Republic has put in place in the fight against corruption.

In this context, the President also presented the Slovak Register of End User Benefits. In her speech, she also mentioned the topic of special institutions dealing with complex and serious cases of corruption, as well as the importance of transparent competitions for key positions in the field of justice. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ivan Korčok, also attended the summit, which is a personal initiative of US President Joe Biden.
