However, unofficial information may provide a clearer picture of the symptoms of omicron and the course of COVID-19 in infected patients. “Their symptoms were different and milder than the ones I had encountered before,” said Angelique Coetzee, president of the South African Medical Association from Pretoria. According to her most patients she felt tired, but none of them lost their taste or smell, which was one of the most common symptoms of the infection so far. “We had one very interesting case. It was about a six-year-old with a temperature and a very high pulse rate, but in two days it felt much better.” Coetzee said.
