Austria is in lockdown. Read what strict rules apply in the country – TVNOVINY.sk

The whole Austria has been reuniting in Lockdown since Monday (November 22), which the local government has announced for 20 days.

From midnight, all residents are again banned from going out. They must close all business operations except for basic service providers.

In public interiors, the obligation to wear the so-called FFP2 respirator and the two-meter distance rule also applies again, writes the APA agency.

The residence may be abandoned only for reasons known from previous stages of the coronavirus pandemic. Exceptions include, for example, averting danger, traveling to work or school, providing for the basic needs of everyday life, traveling to the doctor or for vaccinations or testing, fulfilling “family responsibilities”, as well as physical and mental relaxation.

They can only remain open, e.g. grocery stores, pharmacies, drugstores, gas stations, banks, post offices or newsstands. Restaurants and hotels, where only pick-up and delivery, is also allowed, but also the entire leisure and culture sector, including theaters, cinemas, museums and libraries, also had to close.

The distance of two meters between people who do not live in the same household also applies to workplaces where the rule known as 3G (OTP mode – vaccination, testing or after covide) is still in force.

Schools remain open, but the government has urged parents to leave their children at home if possible.

The lockdown is expected to last until 12 December throughout Austria and until 17 December throughout the epidemic of Upper Austria. Even after these deadlines, curfew restrictions should continue to apply to the unvaccinated.

The measures announced by the government only on Friday were approved by the Austrian National Council on Sunday evening through its main committee. In addition to the coalition fellows from the ÖVP and the Greens, the Social Democrats also voted in favor.

The adopted proposal, contrary to the original wording, will allow skiers to use the lifts and cable cars during the lockdown. The condition will be a confirmation of vaccination or overcoming covid. An FFP2 respirator will be required in enclosed cabins and stations.
