BRATISLAVA – Two victories in two days and gaining a maximum of 200 points! Petra Vlhová followed up on last year and entered the new season in third place in the giant slalom in Sölden and an amazing weekend performance in Levi, Finland.

With a 100% balance in northern Europe, she beat Mikaela Shiffrinová, a four-time slalom winner on the slopes, and with five triumphs, she is the most successful woman in the history of the event.

The textbook form of the Liptov native is also reflected in her progress through the historical tables of the most successful skiers in the World Cup.

The defender of the big crystal globe reached the level of two-time Olympic champion Pernilla Wiberg after two victories in Lapland, and she managed to win fourteen slaloms during her career. Vlhová also has Peria Pelenová within reach, whom she can settle on Sunday in Killington.

Mauro Pini’s protégé can catch up with Swedish legend Anja Pärsonová (17) this season, and if she is healthy and keeps her current form, Janica Kosteličová (20) will be the latest in the next edition of the World Championships.

Shiffrin is the sovereign queen of the most spinning discipline, she has stood on the top step 45 times and only one triumph separates her from leveling the record of Ingemar Stenmark in the number of victories in one discipline.

Vlhová is also rising in the ranking of triumphs in all World Cup disciplines. With a winning double in Levi, she broke away from the German Hilde Gerg and leveled the balance of the star of the eighties Carole Merle.

Slovakia’s best athlete has 22 wins on her account and it is only a matter of time before she catches up with Pernilla Wiberg, Lisa-Marie Morerod and Marie-Theres Nadig.

It is also interesting that she has only four victories since the 14th Tina Maze. The two-time Olympic winner and big globe holder was led by Vlh’s former coach, Italian Livio Magoni.

The American Lindsey Vonn (82), prosecuted by her compatriot Shiffrin (70), is still at the top of the historical ranking. Among the active competitors, only the Swiss Lara Gutová-Behramiová (32) is ahead of Vlhova.
