Giorgio Locchi philosopher of freedom in the essay by Giovanni Damiano

“The thought of origin in Giorgio Locchi”, the latest work by Giovanni Damiano, is coming out these days for Altaforte. Locchi is usually remembered for his participation in the French New Right and for two eminently political works, ‘The essence of fascism’ and ‘Wagner, Nietzsche and the superhumanist myth’. However, according to Damiano, professor of philosophy and author of numerous books, to understand the depth of the philosophy of Locchio it is necessary to analyze it outside its political framework, in its ‘purity’. In Locchi’s conception, historical time is neither linear nor circular: it is a sphere. And past, present and future are synchronized in the present, which is none other than human consciousness. Each present becomes the center and therefore, potentially, origin and new beginning. According to Damiano’s analysis, in Giorgio Locchi the origin is therefore not something given but is essentially an event. In other words, history is still open and man, by exercising his historical freedom, can still forge his destiny. Giovanni Damiano’s essay is accompanied by two other contributions: “Giorgio Locchi, technoscience and the posthuman” by Stefano Vaj and “Giorgio Locchi, a father, a teacher”, the afterword written by Pierluigi Locchi, son of the philosopher, which accompanies the reader in a more intimate and in many ways unprecedented dimension of Locchio’s thought, reserving more than one surprise.
