Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev became the first singles finalist at the Champions Tournament in Turin.

The second player defeated Nor Casper Ruud in Saturday’s semifinals in two sets 6: 4 and 6: 2. In the fight for the title, he will meet the most successful from the evening duel between the highest-ranked Serb Novak Djokovic and the German Alexander Zverev.

Ruud made it to the semifinals at his tournament premiere. In the opening set, the Russian took his hand in the third game, he was close to the next in the fifth, but he did not convert two breakballs. However, Medvedev himself did not face a single break and at 5: 4 he converted the first set, while performing a clean game.

In the second act, the duel was initially more even, but Ruud lost his serve in the fifth game again. Although he averted two breakballs, the third did not. Then came the greater experience of his opponent, who added another break in the seventh game and finally won smoothly 6: 2.

The 25-year-old Medvedev thus won the third duel with Norway, who was three years younger, winning all three equally 2-0 in sets.
