It’s not too soon. While the mobile version of the Google play store has seen many changes in recent years, including recently with Material You, the interface of the web-based app store has not changed for quite a while.

However, things are about to change. As noticed Android Police, some users are starting to see major differences in the interface of the Play Store in its web version. The new design in question brings a welcome boost.

As can be seen in the screenshots ofAndroid Police, the application pages of the Play Store spread out much more to use all the space of the computer screen for a more modern look. We also note that the background is entirely white and that the logo of the app takes up much more space.

In comparison, the current Play Store interface takes up much less space by presenting an app’s information in a vertical rectangle on a gray background.

A more refined style for the Play Store

Another important difference in the interface in preparation: the side pane no longer appears by default. To display the options related to the account, payment methods or Play Points (among others), the user must click on his profile picture at the top right.

Android Police also shows screenshots from other parts of the Play Store to show that the aesthetic overhaul is planned everywhere. With the new interface, the browser can see several apps available for download in a more modern way. No more very rectangular shapes, place here for a more refined style and logos with rounded corners.

A start of deployment?

Note also the presence of some buttons on the Applications and Games pages to sort the apps displayed according to the devices on which you can install them (smartphone, tablet, TV, Chromebook, connected watch, car, etc.).

This new Play Store interface on the web has been mostly seen in South Korea and Taiwan for the moment. It remains to be seen whether Google is still in the testing phase or whether it is already the start of a formal deployment.

Some users no longer see the date of the last update on the application sheets of the Google Play Store.
